
If your employment has been obtained through a recruitment agency, your employer reference letter must be completed by the employer company the agency contracted you into (Host company). The reference must be provided by a supervisor/manager that witnessed or supervised your work and key deliverables.
ACS makes the following distinctions:
Recruitment Agency: This refers to agencies that place candidates in temporary or contract roles within other companies. These agencies act as intermediaries, matching job seekers with opportunities and managing the initial hiring.
Host Company: This is the organisation where the applicant undertakes their work responsibilities. Your supervisor/manager at the Host Company will be providing you with an employer reference letter to confirm your roles, tasks and key achievements in the employer reference letter.
Payment evidence such as payslips, can be accepted when issued by the recruitment agency.

To ensure each employment episode is ready for assessment, please provide an employment reference letter for each relevant employer. This must be on the company letterhead and be signed and dated by an authorised person from the company (digital signatures are preferred and must be provided with a digital verification certificate that authenticates the signer’s identity). ACS will only proceed with an assessment once we have screened and verified the full suite of documents within the application. It is the responsibility of the migrant to provide true and accurate evidence and information when applying for an Australian visa, including all skills assessment activities as well as any documentation supplied by a representative or migration agent.
