Proof of Identity documents

1. Valid Passport  – applicant details page only (not full passport). 

2. Secondary Photo ID 

One additional government-issued identity document from your country of birth or current residence that bears your photograph. 

 
Acceptable secondary ID:

• Driver’s license

• National ID card

• Australian ImmiCard 

• NSW Photo ID

The Applicant Portal will prompt you to scan and upload the above documents using a QR code and your smartphone camera.  

3. Evidence of change of name due to marriage or other reasons (if applicable)

Use your mobile phones to take an image of your face and hold up your valid passport.  The system will (1) verify and compare your image with the passport and (2) verify the passport’s validity. 
 

IMPORTANT TIPS:

• ID Verification will only accept CURRENTLY VALID, ORIGINAL documents.  Please do not photograph copies, expired or unofficial documents

• Ensure you capture the full image of the documents.  If you cut-off the document image, it may not pass the verification step

• During face verification, remove any headwear or face covering and position face within the camera's oval frame during the face verification

• DO NOT use photocopies/scanned copies, marked, or damaged. If there are stickers or marks on the documents they may not be accepted as valid

• DO NOT edit your name or other details while verifying the details captured by the ID Verification system – ACS relies on the full scanned name, not the edited name, when creating your outcome letter(s)
