Australian Conference looks to build regional ICT capabilities
18 September 2024
ACS are delighted to be appointed Gold Sponsors of the Australasian Conference on Information Systems being held in Canberra between 4 and 6 December.
Now in its 35th year, ACIS is Australasia’s premier Information Systems conference. This year’s theme – Digital Futures for a Sustainable Society – explores how technology can be utilised to address environmental, social, and economic challenges while ensuring its benefits are inclusive and equitable.
Key topics of this year’s conference include how technology users can leverage digital tools to build economic resilience, foster digital sovereignty, and enhance social equity while addressing ethical concerns such as data privacy and security.
ACS Management Committee Member, Dr. Rod Dilnutt FACS, said: “We are proud to announce our sponsorship of the ACIS2024. This annual event is a cornerstone for the Information Systems community and plays a pivotal role in fostering ICT innovation and research collaboration.
“Supporting ACIS2024 and the academic ecosystem of faculty, students and industry partners is part of ACS’ objective of ensuring Australia has a highly skilled workforce for the nation to meet the challenges presented by emerging technologies such as AI, robotics and quantum computing.
“We believe this conference will provide a valuable platform for academics, industry leaders, and policy makers to come together to shape the future of ICT in Australia and the region.
“I’m delighted we can support such a valuable conference which is a key part of the region’s IT development and a great example of how ACS can lead the discussion of the sector’s future.”
ACS President, Helen McHugh MACS, added: “I’m proud to support this key conference and it’s an honour to be associated with such an important event. I’m pleased that ACS is continuing its support of key events in the Australasian ICT ecosystem.”
ACIS2024 will feature streams including Emerging Technologies in Information Systems, Digital Innovation, Strategy and Governance, Information Security, and Data Analytics. Sessions will explore pressing issues like ESG, digital transformation, the future of work, the role of AI, and the ethical implications of new technologies. Tracks also emphasize digital collaboration, misinformation, and innovations for the common good.
The conference will also see full and short research paper presentations, poster sessions, panel discussions, and workshops. Notable areas of focus include digital ecosystems, health care technologies, digital government, and decolonizing information systems research. For the first time, ACIS2024 will feature an Industry track with case studies of the latest technology applications and solutions.
