Data sharing is inherently about establishing agreed frameworks allowing for greater utility of linked data sets, whilst still maintaining the privacy of citizens/customers with whom organisations have a relationship. For Australia to maximise its potential in being able to extract beneficial insights whilst maintaining this privacy, it is important that there be a common architecture across all Australian jurisdictions in the sharing of data. This common framework currently does not exist in any practical sense.
Working in conjunction with NSW government and representatives from government, industry and academia across the country, the ACS is producing the 4th publication in the Data Sharing Frameworks series: –Sharing Data in Trusted Frameworks Technical White Paper with an expected completion date of late-November 2021.
