ACS Industry Insights Leaders Series - Data sharing in trusted frameworks

Data sharing is inherently about establishing agreed frameworks allowing for greater utility of linked data sets, whilst still maintaining the privacy of citizens/customers with whom organisations have a relationship. For Australia to maximise its potential in being able to extract beneficial insights whilst maintaining this privacy, it is important that there be a common architecture across all Australian jurisdictions in the sharing of data. This common framework currently does not exist in any practical sense.

 

Working in conjunction with NSW government and representatives from government, industry and academia across the country, the ACS is producing the 4th publication in the Data Sharing Frameworks series: –Sharing Data in Trusted Frameworks Technical White Paper with an expected completion date of late-November 2021. 


On Thursday 9 December at 5:30PM AEDT, we will be joined by The Hon. Victor Dominello, MP and Dr Ian Opperman, NSW Chief Data Scientist and ACS President, to discuss and highlight the collaborative work being pioneered through the Data Sharing Frameworks series. The discussion will expand upon concepts in the Data Sharing Frameworks – Sharing Data in Trusted Frameworks Technical White Paper, including:

 

  • The implementation of international data sharing framework standards to help manage governmental responses to COVID-19 outbreaks in NSW
  • Identifying the challenges and concerns of data sharing and how to mitigate them
  • How to address the complexities of data lifecycles to enable systematic data sharing

  • Simplified frameworks of controls for data sharing and use for different types of data

 

This event signifies the launch of the Data Sharing White Paper in celebration of the 60 year anniversary of the International Federation of Information Processing (IFIP).
