Inclusive Design: From Awareness to Action in Addressing Long-Term Conditions
Unlock the full potential of your team by addressing long-term conditions in the workplace—boost productivity, retention, and innovation while creating an inclusive environment where everyone thrives!
About this event
Have you noticed the critical gap in how long-term conditions are recognised and addressed in workplaces? By recognising and accommodating diverse needs, businesses can enhance productivity, retention, and innovation. Inclusive policies and design not only improve employee well-being but also unlock the full potential of teams, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
ACS brings to you an incredible line up of guest speakers, to share how we can all step up from awareness to action across addressing long-term conditions. Let's work together to foster an inclusive, supportive and high-performing workplace environment!
👇Why does this matter?
🔹 Awareness Disparity – The stark difference between company obtained data and Australia-wide statistics highlights the urgent need for broader education and awareness of long-term conditions in workplaces.
🔹 Workforce Representation – With an increasing number of Millennials and Gen X's reporting long-term conditions, inclusive design is critical for retaining and empowering mid-career professionals who are the backbone of the workforce.
🚨 Why attend?
This session will explore the untapped potential of inclusive design, moving beyond awareness to tangible action. Discover how inclusive practices can transform workplace experiences, benefiting individuals, teams, and businesses alike.

Dr Annie McAuley has mastered the capacity to imagine the impossible and
make it a reality. A traumatic brain injury at 18 forced her to reimagine a different future. Annie pushed through her changed circumstances to re-learn to walk and talk,
study, complete a biomedical PhD at Melbourne University, marry and have
two children before embarking on a mission to help her daughter Grace
communicate. She taught herself to code to create a device that would bring
inanimate objects to “life” to support Grace to verbally communicate. In doing
so she built TalkiPlay.
TalkiPlay came to life as a startup. The speech and language program, which
encourages learning through play has received many accolades and is on
track to help more children talk and thrive.
Annie recognised in the top 10 female inventors list in Australia 2022.
Annie featured in the Australian’s magazine THE LIST of the top 100 innovators in 2022.
TalkiPlay winner Best Edutech Product 2020, YBF Ventures Startup & Innovation awards
Google selected TalkiPlay in 2019 as the top innovation from an Australian startup.
TalkiPlay winner Building Better Futures in Health 2019
TalkiPlay winner Actuator award MedTechGotTalent 2018
Annie's PhD was awarded the young scientist of the year award from the Royal Society.
