The ACS School 2 Tech Transition project delivers the tech talent of tomorrow.

The ACS School 2 Tech Transition project is a school-based work experience program that provides Year 10 and Year 11 high school students with an 'earn and learn' pathway, while studying ICT30120 Certificate III in Information Technology.

Funded by the Queensland Government's Good people. Good jobs: Queensland Workforce Strategy 2022–2032, the project connects students with an employer for a school-based apprenticeship opportunity in a local, reputable company for one day a week for up to 24 months.

The ACS School 2 Tech Transition project provides employers with the chance to recruit school-based trainees for hard-to-fill entry-level positions.

  • Students will study a ICT30120 Cert III in Information Technology with a preferred RTO partner, whilst undertaking employment with a reputable and local business one day a week for up to 24 months
  • The program will be managed and facilitated by ACS, the professional association for the tech industry.
  • Provided by the Queensland government’s Department of Youth Justice, Employment, Small Business and Training (DYJESBT)

  • The ACS program co-ordinator is dedicated to supporting the students as their tech career mentor and liaison for employers

School-based Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SATs)

SATs provide high school students with an opportunity to earn vital work experience and an income while studying for the Queensland Certificate of Education.

“School-based apprenticeships and traineeships (SATs) enable students to integrate their learning with work to develop the skills and knowledge in demand by employers while also earning money.”

Trusted education partners

The ACS School 2 Tech Transition project is delivered by a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), which is approved by the Queensland government.

An Australian Apprenticeship and Support Network (AASN) provider will liaise with employers to support the recruitment, training and retention of apprentices and trainees. AASN providers will also help in the selection of an RTO, provide a contract and administrative support and check eligibility for government subsidies.
