Digital Website Accessibility Course

3-day intensive course or single days– November 8-10, 2016

Learn about website accessibility in these hands-on workshops, including how to conduct a preliminary evaluation of your own website and how to create accessible and interactive documents and how to use a screen reader to evaluate your content.

Day 1:

Website Accessibility for Content Editors and Developers

Day 2:

Creating Accessible Documents

Day 3:

Morning: Creating Accessible Interactive Documents (advanced session)

Afternoon: Using a Screen Reader to Evaluate Content

Course Topics:

• Understanding accessibility
• Australian and International Standards
• Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.0)
• Accessibility evaluation tools
• Recognising the difference between accessible and non-accessible websites
• Conducting a preliminary evaluation of your own website
• Evaluating the accessibility of documents and learning how to make an accessible interactive document
• Issues with PDF and how to maximize the accessibility of your PDF version

  2. days $750
  3. day $400
• In order to register for Day 3 on its own, participants must have taken the Web Key IT courses for the Day 1 and 2 previously.  Day 2 and 3 courses may be taken without having taken Day 1 if participant is not involved with web content.

Courses include:

• All learning materials – handbooks and thumb drives with examples, manuals and handouts
• Lunch, morning and afternoon tea
• Disposable headphones for use with screen reader
