GREEN ICT - Distributed Optimisation for Energy Efficiency - Thursday 22 September

Energy efficiency is a major concern in the developed world. Finding ways to extend the lifetime of non-renewable energy sources and ways to take advantage of renewable energy sources are required to maintain our society. In this talk, Dr Billiau will start by outlining the ways that IT, distributed optimisation in particular, is currently used to reduce losses in the electricity network.

He will continue by covering some of the emerging technologies, such as the Internet of Things, the opportunities they present and the challenges that still have to be overcome before they become reality.
