Remembering ACS Fellow – Dr Peter Jones

Dr Peter Jones, ACS Fellow recently passed away on 26 August.

Peter was one of Australia’s most well-known and distinguished ICT leading professionals. In 1998 Peter was awarded the Pearcey Medal for his contribution to the ICT industry. He was part of a team that developed one of the earliest supercomputers at Manchester University in the early 1960’s. Peter worked in both industry and academia including the University of NSW and the Australian National University. Peter was also a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technical Sciences and Engineering and a member of the then Prime Minister’s Advisory Committee on Science and Technology from 1984 to 1990.
