Dr Smyth, Chair of the Mega Data Cluster WA, will be presenting about her recent journey as part of a delegation to investigate big data activity in Israel.

In her role as Deputy Chairman of Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO), she visited three exciting scientific infrastructure sites.

The proton and deuteron superconducting linear accelerator at Soreq Nuclear Research Centre in Israel, which is being built in two phases and the first phase is up and running the second phase is under construction.

Dr Smyth also visited CERN in Switzerland where she saw the Large Hadron Collider, which has been switched on again after upgrades, as well as other parts of the facilities based at CERN. Subsequently, she travelled to France where she visited the Jules Horowitz 100MW research reactor which will, among other activities, research materials needed for fusion reactors. 

Dr Smyth is one of only 2 WA based people on the Australia Israel Chamber of Commerce Women Leaders Innovation Trade Mission to Israel in May 2016.

This mission is designed for high level engagement between Israel and Australian based women leaders looking at key sectors of technological advancement, innovation, medical research and education connectivity. The objective of the mission is to explore business and investment opportunities in Israel as well as understanding its unique entrepreneurial culture and innovative eco-system.
