Jo Coldwell-Neilson elected to Fellow of ACS

Wednesday, 29 Jun 2016

A Fellow is the highest grade of membership in the ACS, and is one of the formal ways in which the ACS can recognise an outstanding contribution to the profession.  The FACS post nominal indicates that the ACS recognises the individual has made an outstanding contribution to the development of ICT in Australia.

Jo Coldwell-Neilson
ACS Victoria would like to congratulate Jo on becoming the latest Victorian Fellow.

Dr Jo Coldwell-Neilson demonstrates long-term and distinguished service to improving the participation of women in ICT through the promotion of ICT as a desirable career path. Outcomes include hosting over 6000 school girls in Go Girls Go for IT since 2006, being the Australian representative at NCWIT Alliance since 2011 resulting in initiating an annual Gender Summit in The Faculty of Science, Engineering and Built Environment, which was awarded a Vice Chancellor’s Excellence Award in 2015.

Jo has demonstrated a commitment to the ongoing improvement of the profession through her role as ACS examiner of Diploma (Professional Practice) and supporting students in IT through linking her research to teaching practice.

Jo’s current role as Academic WIL coordinator and Faculty Director (Graduate Employment) is the culmination of her passion for engaging students with industry, providing opportunities for them to develop into valued members of the ICT profession.

We are looking forward to welcoming Jo as an ACS Fellow at an upcoming Victorian Branch Forum.
