Improved Security for Branch Pages Now Live for ACS Members

As part of our ongoing efforts to enhance user experience and improve cybersecurity, significant updates have been made to how contact information is presented and managed on ACS Branch Pages.

1.      Secure ‘Contact Us’ Mechanism

Previously, branch pages displayed individual email addresses using ‘mailto’ links, which exposed contact details publicly. These have now been replaced with a secure web form.

  • New Contact Form: You can now fill out a simple contact form to reach a specific ACS branch member.
  • Automated Email Routing: Once the form is submitted, the system automatically triggers an email to the appropriate branch contact based on the your selection or the page context. This ensures messages are delivered accurately without exposing personal email addresses.

2.       Strengthened Security Measures

The earlier use of mailto links left branch contacts vulnerable to various malicious activities, including:

  • Phishing attempts through spoofed email interactions,
  • Imposter attacks by mimicking legitimate contacts,
  • Malware and coercive downloads, often initiated through unsolicited or spoofed emails.

By transitioning to a form-based approach:

  • Personal email addresses are no longer exposed on the public website, reducing the risk of harvesting by bots and malicious actors.
  • Google reCAPTCHA has been integrated into the form to defend against automated, scripted attacks and spam submissions, ensuring only legitimate queries reach our branch members.

These enhancements not only improve operational security but also contribute to a more professional and streamlined communication experience for all users reaching out to ACS branches.

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to the Member Services team.
