What can be done to improve it? Professional migration is an evolving challenge for Australia. With growing skill gaps, the technology industry is continuously bemoaning a lack of capable professionals in critical areas such as cyber security, artificial intelligence and data analysis, to name a few. Australia will need 1.2 million skilled technologists by 2027, and we’re looking at a short fall of 330,000 workers if current enrolment and migration trends persist. At the same time, concerns are being raised that Australian citizens should receive preference in competitive job markets before migrant candidates are considered, with discussions touching on a range of topics from immigration, to reskilling, and non-science pathways to STEM-preferred options. So how do we strike a balance that ensures high-paying jobs for our existing IT professionals, while providing for migrant inclusion, diversity, and the support of the future technology needs of the country? Join us for the next ACS Think Tank discussion where we'll be asking the question: Is Australia's approach to skilled migration working? What can be done to improve it? If an attendee is displaying flu or cold like symptoms in the days leading up to the event and therefore is not able to attend, ACS will refund the registration fee.

We ask all ACS members to respect the social distancing guidelines, if an attendee repeatedly disregards these guidelines, they may be asked to leave
ACS reserves the right to cancel the event within 24 hours' notice if either the speaker or the event host has advised us that they are exhibiting flu or cold like symptoms
All attendees must provide a valid phone number and email address to be contacted on if there is reason to notify about a possible COVID-19 exposure
