ICT Mentoring opportunity for ACS Members

Wednesday, 07 Dec 2016

The Australian Mathematics Trust, at the University of Canbera, is seeking 40 ICT professionals who are keen to make a difference by mentoring year 9 and 10's from groups which are under-represented in ICT learning areas and have enrolled in the digIT programme.

digIT is a program for high school students and involves two camps and a six month mentoring program. Time commitment for Mentors is one day in January and one in July 2017, and a phone call, email or meeting once a month in between.

The goal for the mentors is to develop a relationship with the mentee that stimulates curiosity, inspires enthusiasm and motivates an interest in ICT studies and careers.

There will be a significant proportion of female students as part of this program, and the aims of this program align with the ACS goals to advance professional excellence in information technology and to promote the development of Australian information and communications technology resources. Mentor travel expenses will be covered.

The deadline for Mentor applications is the 23rd of December.

Express your interest online at https://www.asi.edu.au/digit-mentoring-opportunity/ or contact Kate O'Sullivan at kate.o’sullivan@amt.edu.au or  the Program Manager, Vanessa Kates, at digit@amt.edu.au for more information
