ACS Diversity Summit provides platform to identify diversity actions

Thursday, 03 Nov 2016

On Wednesday 2 November, whilst Melbourne was preparing for the race that stopped the Nation, an intimate group of ACS stakeholders and industry leaders gathered at the National Press Club in Canberra to discuss the importance of diversity within our profession.

Improving workforce diversity is a key challenge to addressing skills shortages and to improve business results.  This includes improving gender balance, assisting young people entering the profession, migrant workers in Australia, and embracing workers with disabilities.

Senator the Hon Michaelia Cash, Minister for Employment; Minister for Women; Minister Assisting the Prime Minister for the Public Service, opened the summit, providing a platform to discuss diversity challenges and how we can continue to address them.

The formation of a Task Force to prioritise, monitor and report on the initiatives was a result of the summit, which will be led by Arnold Wong, Vice-President, ACS Community Boards.
