Thursday, 12 May 2016

Mohamed Fayaz (preferred name Fayaz) is currently studying his Masters of Technology at Federation University, Ballarat. Fayaz will be representing ACS as a Student Ambassador and current student at Federation University. His role will be to empower the new generation and create a network between his peers and ACS. We asked Fayaz some questions about his attraction to the ambassador role and what his ambitions are.

Mohamed Fayaz
What career goals are you hoping to achieve once you have completed your studies?

As my passion sits within the analytics space, once I complete my studies, I hope to acquire a job in the ICT industry as a Data Analyst.

What are your long term career aspirations?

In the future, I foresee myself as a successful entrepreneur, where I aspire to make many innovative products for the future generation and industry.

Are you a part of any relevant groups/student associations or other volunteer groups?
I am currently a part of the Student Senate at Federation University and am representing postgraduate students who are studying through coursework and research.

Have you had any work experience? If so, where and what did it involve?
Over a period of 12 months, I worked as a PeopleSoft Developer in a Banking and Financial services domain at Wipro Technologies, India.

What attracted you to the ACS Ambassador role?
Becoming an ACS Ambassador provides valuable opportunities to get involved in various events and meeting new people. This allows me to contribute, learn and enhance my knowledge, skills and network, preparing me for the transition between studies and a career.  I am aiming to be the voice for my fellow students at Federation University to address their suggestions and concerns for the ICT industry.

What do you like to do in your spare time?
I love to play squash, go for long drives and hang out with friends.

Why would you encourage other students and graduates to become more involved with ACS?
ACS is a highly beneficial platform for individuals to gain exposure and broaden their network. With which, one can gain opportunities and enhance their capabilities in order to achieve what they aspire to do.

Are you interested in becoming a student ambassador? We are looking for representatives to play an active role in our profession, drive innovation and enhance the reputation of ICT. For more information or to express your interest, please contact Tarne.Whelan@acs.org.au.
