MEDIA RELEASE

ACS welcomes NT focus on Digital Strategy

Sydney, 15th September 2017; The ACS – the professional association for Australia’s digital sector – has welcomed the announcement by The Hon Lauren Moss, Northern Territory Minister for Corporate and Information Services, that consultation has commenced on a digital strategy for the Territory.

Entitled “Towards a Digital Strategy for the Northern Territory” the discussion paper is set to strengthen the digital capability of Australia’s gateway to the South East Asian region. The paper has identified 5 digital drivers which have been outlined for feedback – Enable, Innovate, Share, Protect and Educate.

ACS president Anthony Wong congratulated Minister Moss on the initiative.

“We have enjoyed a strong working relationship with Minister Moss for some time, and we are pleased to see great steps being made towards the digital transformation of the Northern Territory.”

“With 1 in 5 households in the Northern Territory not having internet access there is a real opportunity here for Territorians and businesses to have their say on how technology can be harnessed to provide opportunities now and into the future.”

“I want to congratulate Minister Moss, and offer the support of the ACS to this consultation process. We stand ready to assist and provide expertise from our members in whichever capacity the Minister seeks.”

Further information is available at www.haveyoursay.nt.gov.au with the consultation period open until October 13, 2017.
