About this event

How do you progress your career in tech while navigating the mental load of health, family, and life outside of work?

This session is a practical deep-dive into career progression in tech, designed for women who are ambitious, capable, and juggling more than just their job. Whether you’re managing parenting responsibilities, personal health, or caregiving, the reality is that career growth often requires strategy, not just hard work.

We’ll unpack what “work-life balance” actually looks like in real life, how to give yourself permission to reset expectations, and how understanding yourself becomes the foundation of strong personal branding and career decision-making.

Beyond reflection, this session is highly practical. You’ll learn how to advocate for your self-worth, negotiate with confidence, and use the job market to your advantage. We’ll also examine what your calendar and commitments reveal about your real priorities, and how to make intentional trade-offs that support both wellbeing and career momentum.

This is an honest, empowering conversation for women in tech who want clarity, confidence, and a realistic plan forward — without burnout or performative self-promotion.

The conversation will be led by Lydia Sharpin OAM, ACS NSW Member and Salesforce Technical Lead, Life Without Barriers. Join the conversation and leave with:

  • A personal progression roadmap – A clear, realistic 12–24 month growth plan mapping skills, experiences, and stretch opportunities aligned to your next career move

  • Internal advocacy and visibility strategies – How to build sponsors (not just mentors), position your achievements effectively, and influence decision-makers without self-promotion fatigue

  • Tools to manage the mental load – Strategies for navigating parenting, caregiving, or personal health alongside career growth

  • A stronger sense of self and personal brand – Grounded in values, strengths, and boundaries rather than constant hustle

  • Market awareness as leverage – How understanding your industry and the job market strengthens confidence, choices, and negotiating power

  • Real-world career strategy examples – Including when stepping sideways (or briefly backwards) can lead to significant long-term gains
