Empowering Women in STEM
Celebrating Ada Lovelace Day
About this event
Join us in celebrating women's leadership in STEM and learn about the latest emerging technologies and trends!
Ada Lovelace was a mathematician and often called as the first computer programmer. According to the Office of the Chief Scientist, women make up only 28% of the STEM (science, tech, engineering & mathematics) workforce. The numbers are even more decreased for women in the new and emerging tech industries.
This event is a unique opportunity to explore the convergence of emerging technology and inclusion, featuring thought-provoking panel discussions, valuable networking opportunities, and your chance to ask any burning questions to thought leaders from Canva and IBM. We will delve into their interesting backgrounds and careers, how they got to where they are now, and inspire others to enter the STEM industry.
Whether you're a professional in the tech industry, a current student or recent graduate, a supporter of women's empowerment, or someone passionate about the future of technology, this event is for you. Join us and be part of this transformative experience.

Cheryl collaborates with clients to build understanding of their IBM contract and the capabilities and value it can provide to their business and identify ways to achieve and measure these outcomes. After completing a Physical Education degree, Cheryl’s first job was Executive Assistant to the Marketing Director of an IT company. This led to opportunities to train customers in using software, install computers, set up networks and other pre-sales technical roles in Australia and the UK. Project management, IT operations, service delivery and IT leadership roles followed. Cheryl’s work life balance involves her Gen Z son who provides numerous distractions with his ‘adventure’ activities, playing tennis (which is where she met Lucy Lin) and weekend coast and park walks that often involve a coffee.
She went back to study and began a role in garden maintenance. She is now a Horticultural Operations Technician at Invertigro, where she takes care of the day-to-day operations of an indoor vertical farm and is hands-on with the research and development of a new way of farming. Cassie is a modern urban farmer at the forefront of technology and agricultural farming.
