ACS IT Educators Forum
If you are an ICT Educator who's passionate about shaping the future of upcoming, high calibre IT professionals and innovators, and you need to learn how best to deliver outstanding outcomes within the new Digital Technologies Curriculum, this forum is a must go to.
About this event
The ACS is bringing together an expert group of key people that have been involved at Federal and State levels in designing, developing and supporting the implementation of the Digital Technologies curriculum. This is a unique opportunity for school leaders and teachers to openly discuss the new curriculum with the experts.
The event will comprise of two panels that not only highlights the key perspectives but also provides attendees an exciting opportunity to have their own questions answered.
Panel 1
A practical understanding of the Digital Technologies Curriculum. How the Digital Technologies curriculum was developed and guidance on good practices for implementation in schools and classrooms.
It will cover:
o Key benefits of the Digital Technologies curriculum
o How was the DT designed?
o How does it compare internationally?
o What are the implementation objectives at National and State level?
o How much flexibility is there in how schools implement?
o What might best practice look like?
o Using the Digital Technologies curriculum to prepare students for the future
o How does the DT enable people to participate better in the digital economy even if they are not going to work in digital professions?
o How does it support those who *do* want to enter digital careers or higher education?
Panel 2
Will look at the resources and support available to schools and teachers.
o What PD and support is available?
o What other resources are available for teachers?
ACS is developing a fantastic ICT Educators programme to ensure the future of Australia's upcoming workforce are more 'job ready' than ever and can stake their place in the high tech based global economy.

Speakers
Julie coordinated the development of the F-10 Australian Curriculum: Technologies. She is also a Director of the Primary Industries Education Foundation Australia (PIEFA). Julie has previously worked as a teacher, distance education writer, curriculum advisor and manager for the NSW Department of Education.
James is also Director of the National Computer Science School and the NCSS Challenge, the largest computer science school outreach program in Australia, and is working with ACARA on the development of the Australian Curriculum: Digital Technologies.
With Tara Murphy, he has won Faculty, University and national awards for university teaching excellence; and AIIA NSW and National iAwards, and an Engineering Australia (Sydney Division) Excellence award (Education and Training) for NCSS and the NCSS Challenge.
In 2010, James was included as one of Sydney's 100 most influential people, as published in the Sydney Morning Herald's "The (sydney) Magazine".
Previously Senior Education Officer (Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority - QCAA) for Information Technology Systems, Information Processing and Technology, Information Communication Technology SAS, Graphics and Aerospace. Currently Principal Education Officer at the QCAA and leading the expert writing team to develop the new Queensland Digital Technologies syllabus and implementation workshops.
Beth Claydon has developed a number of iTunes U courses that deliver the upper primary curriculum at St Hilda’s School and was responsible for the online learning program for prospective students called St Hilda’s@Home. She has also co-authored a course for coding drones for primary students, presented at eLearning conferences and shared her experiences with a number of schools in Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
She is passionate about innovative teaching methods that deliver collaborative learning environments for students. This includes developing the skills of colleagues in the planning and implementation of the Technologies curriculum and realising the integral role that contemporary technologies play in education.

Registration
- Payment in full is required the time of booking in order for the registration to be valid.
- To avoid disappointment, ensure you pay for your booking(s) before the registration closing date. Anyone that has not received a confirmation email will not be on the event attendance list and therefore will not be admitted to the event.
- Online registration ends at the time stated on the event details page.
Cancellation and Refund
All cancellations must be processed through the website, a refund will only be considered if it is at least 3 working days prior to the event.
Disclaimer
- ACS reserves the right to change the program at any time. Every effort will be made to ensure a program of equivalent standard and members are updated with changes.
- All dietary requirements are considered, however we cannot guarantee a 100% allergen free environment.
- ACS reserves the right to prohibit entry or eject any person from an ACS event based on behaviour deemed inappropriate by ACS staff, its agents and/or others working under its authority.
- Filming or streaming by attendees is not permitted. If an attendee is found to be doing so they will be asked to leave the event immediately and further action may be taken.
- Photography and/or filming may take place during this event, by accepting these terms you consent to this. Please let a member of ACS know if you do not want your picture taken.
COVID-19 Event Attendance Compliance
By registering to attend an ACS in person event you are agreeing to the below terms and conditions
- If an attendee is displaying flu or cold like symptoms in the days leading up to the event and therefore is not able to attend, ACS will refund the registration fee.
- If an attendee comes to an event and is displaying flu or cold like symptoms they will be asked to leave
- We ask all ACS members to respect the social distancing guidelines, if an attendee repeatedly disregards these guidelines, they may be asked to leave
- ACS reserves the right to cancel the event within 24 hours' notice if either the speaker or the event host has advised us that they are exhibiting flu or cold like symptoms
- All attendees must provide a valid phone number and email address to be contacted on if there is reason to notify about a possible COVID-19 exposure
