June 2018 Young Professionals Half-Day Conference
Targeted towards but not limited to students currently completing their studies, this special event will allow participants to keep abreast with their professional development through the facilitation of three separate sessions, highlighting ways in which you can stand out and succeed as a skilled professional.
About this event
The morning will consist of three workshops, each facilitated by a different industry professional and topic. Each session will allow participants to keep abreast with their professional development and provide further insight into what steps they can take to help build a successful career within IT.
This Young Professionals Half-Day Conference will aim to help improve your awareness and understanding of the IT sector, and develop your overall skills in preparation of entering the workforce.
Continued professional development can deliver a deeper understanding of what it means to be a professional, and ensures that your knowledge stays relevant and up to date within the industry. Don't miss this special event.
Session 1 - 'Achieving success in your technology career'
Presented by Anna Leibel
Anna blends her interest in emerging technology with industry experience and consulting frameworks to design unique customer-focused strategies.
With a career spanning over two decades, she has been successful with start-ups, enterprise – tech and sales - and consulting services.
Anna is very excited to be sharing with us her unique journey as a female in Technology and Transformation Leadership, the importance of sponsorship and mentors, and the value of continual learning and development to achieve success in your own career.
Session 2 - 'How to communicate like a leader!'
Presented by Jill Noble
We spend 70% of our waking time communicating! Effective communication takes time to learn but done well makes us more effective and productive which leads to career success. In this interactive session you will explore the three key elements of communication – Tone of voice, body language and words.

Session 3 - 'Does your job application have what IT companies want?'
Presented by Naren Chellapah
This interactive presentation will show you exactly what IT recruiters and employers in Australia look for when screening candidates.
The focus of this presentation will be on customising resumes for job advertisements using keywords and fixing the basic mistakes that hundreds of graduates make when applying for jobs. You will also learn how to use the right resume structure for the Australian market - which is what recruiters and employers want to see when screening jo applications.
Hear from one of Australia’s leading Career Coaches and ACECIS Director, Naren Chellappah who will provide expert advice on how to improve your job application to pass the tough screening process so you improve your prospects of getting to the interview stage.
Professional Year students - Attending the half-day conference will count for all 6 CPD hours required to complete your studies. All three sessions must be attended in order for your enrollment to be processed.
Speakers
With a career spanning over two decades, she has been successful with start-ups, enterprise – tech and sales - and consulting services. Having commenced her corporate career in a most successful start-up, www.seek.com.au, she has a history of achieving outcomes through collaboration, creating a growth culture and lateral thinking.
Her approach to initiating and leading change is authentic, energetic and creative: from digitisation of customer experiences through to the technology stack. This combined with her pragmatic approach to shifting from legacy systems has successfully enabled business outcomes through technology.
Anna has previously held senior consulting and general management roles with PwC, Telstra and NAB.
Anna attended MIT Executive Summer School in Boston on the emerging Digital Economy and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. In addition to her business achievements, Anna is an active advocate across the industry for diversity and inclusion within business and technology; she demonstrates her passion for developing others through her motivational speaking, published blogs and coaching of start-ups.

Registration
- Payment in full is required the time of booking in order for the registration to be valid.
- To avoid disappointment, ensure you pay for your booking(s) before the registration closing date. Anyone that has not received a confirmation email will not be on the event attendance list and therefore will not be admitted to the event.
- Online registration ends at the time stated on the event details page.
Cancellation and Refund
All cancellations must be processed through the website, a refund will only be considered if it is at least 3 working days prior to the event.

- ACS reserves the right to change the program at any time. Every effort will be made to ensure a program of equivalent standard and members are updated with changes.
- All dietary requirements are considered, however we cannot guarantee a 100% allergen free environment.
- ACS reserves the right to prohibit entry or eject any person from an ACS event based on behaviour deemed inappropriate by ACS staff, its agents and/or others working under its authority.
- Filming or streaming by attendees is not permitted. If an attendee is found to be doing so they will be asked to leave the event immediately and further action may be taken.
- Photography and/or filming may take place during this event, by accepting these terms you consent to this. Please let a member of ACS know if you do not want your picture taken.
COVID-19 Event Attendance Compliance
By registering to attend an ACS in person event you are agreeing to the below terms and conditions
- If an attendee is displaying flu or cold like symptoms in the days leading up to the event and therefore is not able to attend, ACS will refund the registration fee.
- If an attendee comes to an event and is displaying flu or cold like symptoms they will be asked to leave
- We ask all ACS members to respect the social distancing guidelines, if an attendee repeatedly disregards these guidelines, they may be asked to leave
- ACS reserves the right to cancel the event within 24 hours' notice if either the speaker or the event host has advised us that they are exhibiting flu or cold like symptoms
- All attendees must provide a valid phone number and email address to be contacted on if there is reason to notify about a possible COVID-19 exposure
