The report covers what blockchains are, what problems the creators were trying to solve, and the world-changing applications that they are enabling, far beyond just Bitcoin and cryptocurrency.  <br><br>At this complimentary event, ACS will launch the new Blockchain Fundamentals guide, followed by a non-technical workshop designed for IT and business professionals and managers. In this non-technical workshop, we’ll introduce the basics of blockchain technology including: <br><br>What is blockchain and why does it matter?<br>•    Business use cases<br>•    Business drivers for blockchain adoption.<br>•    Main challenges of blockchain adoption. <br>

Mohammed is a digital transformation expert who successfully devised and executed a digital transformation strategy to deliver better business value. Led and delivered complex large digital transformation programs for multi-billion-dollar conglomerates and multi-national organisations. Led programs in business consultancy, organisational change management (OCM), system implementation, cybersecurity, and digital infrastructure. Streamlined business operations and functions across different sectors by architecting, developing, implementing, and supporting integrated business systems including ERPs, analytics, and mobile applications.

Mohammed is a TEDx Speaker, a chair of the blockchain advisory board of the Australian Computer Society (ACS), an advisory board member of the ACS, and a board member of the Australia and New Zealand Academy of Management ANZAM. Mohammed is a recipient of several awards and a holder of several professional certificates such as FHEA, PMP, PMI-ACP, CISA, ITIL, OCP, and many others.

Mohammed holds a master's degree in Information Technology Management, a post-graduate diploma in Artificial Intelligence and a bachelor's degree in computer engineering.

President, Australian Computer Society

Dr Nick Tate is President of the ACS. He has nearly 50 years’ ICT experience, including 20 years in Cybersecurity, 16 years as a CIO/Head of IT at two London banks and the University of Queensland (UQ) and 11 years as head of the Australian Computer Emergency Response Team (AusCERT), which dealt with cybersecurity incidents nationally.  He has taught at Leadership Institutes in Australia and South Africa and was Director of the Future Leaders Institute at the ACS. He is co-author of “A Director’s Guide to Governing Information Technology and Cybersecurity”, an AICD published book and has 20 years’ experience as a Company Director in both Australian and US companies. Nick is an Adjunct Professor at UQ and has a PhD in Cybersecurity.

COVID-19 Event Attendance Compliance

By registering to attend an ACS in person event you are agreeing to the below terms and conditions

  • If an attendee is displaying flu or cold like symptoms in the days leading up to the event and therefore is not able to attend, ACS will refund the registration fee.
  • If an attendee comes to an event and is displaying flu or cold like symptoms they will be asked to leave
  • We ask all ACS members to respect the social distancing guidelines, if an attendee repeatedly disregards these guidelines, they may be asked to leave
  • ACS reserves the right to cancel the event within 24 hours' notice if either the speaker or the event host has advised us that they are exhibiting flu or cold like symptoms
  • All attendees must provide a valid phone number and email address to be contacted on if there is reason to notify about a possible COVID-19 exposure
