Why 2021 might be forever known as the year of the “Breach”…

The cybercrime environment is one of the most dynamic and evolving ecosystems on the planet.  It has been for too long “categorised” into defined elements that allow us to interpret our adversaries, and thereby our “victim potential”.  “Those nation threat actors aren’t concerned with me – they target governments!”   This malaise couldn’t be further from the truth.  Recent indictments issued by the US Department of Justice provide definitive evidence that cybercriminals are agile, capable and motivated by point in time objectives – be it money, ideology, political or military direction.  By taking a journey of some of the more definitive breaches in recent times we may garner an insight into what we can expect in the future.  Areas to be explored include:
Cybercriminals – who’s going to stop them?
  • Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic – how secure was the response
  • The growth of the Dark Web
  • Are we about to see a growth in cyber espionage?
  • Could nation state be converging with national commercial interests to a level never seen?
  • The ever-burgeoning growth of GRC – the regulatory and legislative influence
  • Supply chain and 3rd party providers – is there a solution to the challenge?
  • Let’s get the fundamentals right.

Executive Director, Cultural Cyber Security.

Following Brian's presentation, Tessa Holland, Education Lead, Codebots will present on a practical how-to guide on modernising legacy systems. She will show how you can go about recreating existing software (or paper-based) systems and translate them onto a modern tech stack. This talk covers how you can take advantage of the process to make improvements; how you can be certain that you don’t forget anything, and how you can stop your system from becoming legacy again in the future.

This talk also introduces Codebots, a cloud-based software builder, which follows the principles of model-driven development to make the creation and maintenance process of owning an app significantly easier. See how you can use Codebots to complete a basic legacy migration in the space of a few hours.

Registrations: 5:00pm for 5:30pm start
