Syed Shahzad, Managing Partner, Difiza

Syed is a tech entrepreneur and ICT security expert. He has just returned from the UK after spending 15 years travelling, studying, creating ventures and selling them. He went to UNSW for his undergrad and postgrad (specialized in security and communications) and the University of Oxford (St Hugh’s College) for his second postgrad in finance. He is about to start his PhD!

Syed comes from a successful career in Enterprise ICT Security helping businesses design and implement challenging Target Operating Model's (TOM) so they can be secure and efficient.  He has advised and consultancy to the Home Office UK, MET Police UK, Australian Federal Police, Attorney General’s Office, Department of Foreign Affairs, Australian Tax Office and Austrade.

In the UK he founded a fully accredited Business School and education technology company Oxademy Education (https://ox.education and https://oxademy.ac.uk ) in partnership with the University of Buckingham that offers a blended MBA with specialization in Cybersecurity. 

At present Syed is working as a principal consultant for a Canberra based indigenous consultancy called Arrpwere for the Australian Department of Defense in their Military Platform Integration division providing advisory in cybersecurity domain, including governance, architecture, product assessments and IRAP assessment of complex systems integrations at all classifications.

In his free time, Syed is developing a mobile app to help security practitioners access relevant content and security guidelines.  

Syed is a non-exec board member and mentor tech and finance of Riders for Health, an international non-profit organisation that provides healthcare to rural African villages using motorcycles and motorcycle ambulances. Syed also sits on the board of University of Oxford Business Alumni committee.

COVID-19 Event Attendance Compliance

By registering to attend an ACS in person event you are agreeing to the below terms and conditions

  • If an attendee is displaying flu or cold like symptoms in the days leading up to the event and therefore is not able to attend, ACS will refund the registration fee.
  • If an attendee comes to an event and is displaying flu or cold like symptoms they will be asked to leave
  • We ask all ACS members to respect the social distancing guidelines, if an attendee repeatedly disregards these guidelines, they may be asked to leave
  • ACS reserves the right to cancel the event within 24 hours' notice if either the speaker or the event host has advised us that they are exhibiting flu or cold like symptoms
  • All attendees must provide a valid phone number and email address to be contacted on if there is reason to notify about a possible COVID-19 exposure
