ACS Victoria is excited to be bringing Deputy Director of the Deakin University Centre for Cyber Security, Professor Matthew Warren to Ballarat for the first in a series of regional forum events.<br><br>Cyber Security is often considered as a technical issue and focuses on its solutions.<br> <br>Professor Warren will concentrate his presentation on cyber security aspects, such as people and processes and pay attention to social engineering security awareness issues. Also, he will describe how security risk analysis&#39; processes can be used to improve security.<br><br>This event is proudly sponsored by Victorian State Government.

Professor Matthew Warren

Professor Matthew Warren

Matthew Warren is a Professor of Cyber Security at Deakin University and Deputy Director of the Deakin University Centre for Cyber Security Research and Innovation.Professor Warren is a researcher in the areas of Cyber Security and he has authored and co-authored over 300 books, book chapters, journal papers and conference papers. He has received numerous grants and awards from national and international funding bodies, such as Australian Research Council (ARC); Engineering Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) in the UK; National Research Foundation in South Africa and the European Union. He is a research theme leader in the CyberSecurity CRC (Cooperative Research Centres) a partnership between academia, industry and government. The CyberSecurity CRC is the biggest investment in Australian Cyber Security R&D at $140 million dollars over seven years.Professor Warren gained his PhD in Information Security Risk Analysis from the University Of Plymouth, United Kingdom and he has taught within Australia, Finland, Hong Kong and the United Kingdom. Professor Warren is a Fellow of the Australian Computer Society.

  • ACS reserves the right to prohibit entry or eject any person from an ACS event based on behaviour deemed inappropriate by ACS staff, its agents and/or others working under its authority.
  • Filming or streaming by attendees is not permitted. If an attendee is found to be doing so they will be asked to leave the event immediately and further action may be taken.
  • Photography and/or filming may take place during this event, by accepting these terms you consent to this. Please let a member of ACS know if you do not want your picture taken.

COVID-19 Event Attendance Compliance

By registering to attend an ACS in person event you are agreeing to the below terms and conditions

  • If an attendee is displaying flu or cold like symptoms in the days leading up to the event and therefore is not able to attend, ACS will refund the registration fee.
  • If an attendee comes to an event and is displaying flu or cold like symptoms they will be asked to leave
  • We ask all ACS members to respect the social distancing guidelines, if an attendee repeatedly disregards these guidelines, they may be asked to leave
  • ACS reserves the right to cancel the event within 24 hours' notice if either the speaker or the event host has advised us that they are exhibiting flu or cold like symptoms
  • All attendees must provide a valid phone number and email address to be contacted on if there is reason to notify about a possible COVID-19 exposure
