<br><br>On 3rd July 2019, ACS provided notice to all members that we would be seeking members approval to change the legal structure of the Society and to replace the entirety of the existing Rules of the Society with a new constitution that is compliant with Corporations Act. This included the proposed resolution, schedules and the notice to members - <a href=",eb36896,eb34549&amp;customerID=" target="_blank">Notice of proposed alteration to the Rules and Objects of the Society</a>.<br><br>To assist members to understand how the proposed new governance model will operate in its entirety, you may have already seen this article posted in Information Age on the 25 June 2019 – <a href=",eb36896,eb3454a&amp;customerID=" target="_blank">ACS to modernise governance: From Incorporated Association to Company Limited by Guarantee</a>, or other articles from ACS members Karen Gee and Peter James. Additional background information has been posted to the News Section on the <a href="" target="_blank">ACS website</a>.<br><br>ACS President Yohan Ramasundara is also hosting a <a href="" target="_blank">national livestream</a> open to all members on 23rd July to explain the proposed changes to ACS’ legal structure through the approval of its members. This change would mean ACS will become a Company Limited by Guarantee (CLG) as per the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth) and a new constitution will be put in place that is compliant with legislation. This livestream is to provide a forum that can reach as many members as possible to assist members to understand how the proposed modernisation of the governance framework will help in meeting and servicing the demands of our members.<br><br>Following this livestream, ACS President Yohan Ramasundara will be visiting every Branch across the country to undertake a Governance Review Branch Forum for members who are interested in better understanding what the changes to the governance framework entail and what it means for you and ACS’ future. This is your opportunity to attend, hear directly from ACS’ President and your Branch Executive Committee representative and to ask any questions you may have.

Yohan Ramasundara

Yohan Ramasundara

Yohan is an experienced executive with a strong track record of successful achievement of business outcomes leading high-performing teams in public, private and not-for-profit sectors for over fifteen years. Yohan is an Australian Public Service (APS) employee from Canberra. In 2017 Yohan was in San Francisco Bay Area as the Innovation Manager International Operations for Austrade. Previously he was the Head of Governance at IP Australia and National Manager of Assurance Services at Ecowise Environmental, Australia’s largest provider of integrated environmental consulting services at the time. Yohan is the President of the Australian Computer Society (ACS) and the Secretary General of SEARCC – the Asia Pacific Forum for Information Communication Technology (ICT). Yohan is also an international Cricket umpire. A graduate of University of Canberra, with ICT, accounting and finance qualifications, he is also the recipient of the prestigious University of Canberra gold leadership award at the 2005 Blues & Leadership awards for his sporting achievements. He is currently authoring a children’s story book in his spare time.
