Responsibilities include finance, legal, corporate services, the health state network, human resources, communications and information technology.<br><br>Mr Yannopoulos was awarded a Public Service Medal in January 2019 for his substantial achievements in this role. Mr Yannopoulos has held previous government positions including First Assistant Secretary, Portfolio Investment Division and Chief Information Officer at the Department of Health as well as other significant roles such as Portfolio CIO of the Department of Immigration and Border Protection and as the Department of Defence&#39;s first Chief Technology Officer. <br><br>Mr Yannopoulos has an accounting and information technology background and is an accredited FCPA.

Matthew (Matt) Yannopoulos, PSM 
Deputy Secretary Chief Operating Officer  - Department of Health

Mr Yannopoulos took up the role of Chief Operating Officer on 9 July 2018.  In this position he is responsible for the Department’s corporate and enabling areas that support the Department in meeting its purpose. Responsibilities include finance, legal, corporate services, the health state network, human resources, communications and information technology.

As the department's Senior Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Champion, Mr Yannopoulos recognises the importance of listening, respecting and valuing of opinions, skills and insights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Prior to this, Mr Yannopoulos was the Senior Responsible Officer for the Child Care Reform Implementation at the Department of Education.  In this role has was responsible for the leadership and direction for the Program of Child Care Reform Implementation including the build of the new IT system supporting the child care reforms across the Departments of Education, Human Services and Social Services.  Mr Yannopoulos was awarded a Public Service Medal in January 2019 for his substantial achievements in this role.

By registering to attend an ACS in person event you are agreeing to the below terms and conditions

  • If an attendee is displaying flu or cold like symptoms in the days leading up to the event and therefore is not able to attend, ACS will refund the registration fee.
  • If an attendee comes to an event and is displaying flu or cold like symptoms they will be asked to leave
  • We ask all ACS members to respect the social distancing guidelines, if an attendee repeatedly disregards these guidelines, they may be asked to leave
  • ACS reserves the right to cancel the event within 24 hours' notice if either the speaker or the event host has advised us that they are exhibiting flu or cold like symptoms
  • All attendees must provide a valid phone number and email address to be contacted on if there is reason to notify about a possible COVID-19 exposure
