acs 2017 national elections - nominations sought

 

Nominations are called for the positions of:

(1)    President; 

(2)    Vice President (Membership Boards);

(3)    National Congressional Representatives; and

as the terms of the incumbents expire on 31 December 2017.

Nominations are also called for a Casual Vacancy:

(4)    Director, Profession Advisory Board (until 31 December 2018)

The positions of President, Vice President and Congressional Representatives are part of Management Committee, which is the governing body of the Society, and of the ACS Congress, which is an advisory and electoral body. The term for each position is two years, commencing 01 January 2018. 

The Casual Vacancy for Director, Profession Advisory Board is a position on Congress but is not a Management  Committee position. The term for the casual vacancy expires on 31 December 2018  

Only members of the Professional Division are eligible for election or appointment to Congress or as Branch Office Bearers (NR2.13.2). The Fellows, Senior Members and Members, together, but excluding members classified into the special categories of Honorary Fellow and Honorary Member (unless the Honorary Member was a member before classification as an Honorary Member), comprise Professional Division.

National Congressional Representatives are elected from the Congressional Representatives including those who are elected as such but who have not, at the time of election, taken up the position as Congressional Representative.

Nominations will close at 8.00am (AEST) Monday 13 November 2017. The elections will be held at the November Congress meeting to be held in Sydney on Saturday 25 November 2017.

Nominees are expected to include a short (1 A4 page) overview of their goals whilst in office (policy statement) and their qualifications (suitability) for the position and should attach a passport-size photo (jpeg) with their application.

 

ACS Management Committee at its November 2015 meeting decided that nominees for ACS elected member positions must have completed the ACS online induction program to be eligible to contest the position. Links to the induction program can be obtained from the Company Secretary: Christopher.McRostie@acs.org.au. This must be completed by Friday 17 November 2017, prior to the National Elections at Congress.
