ACS Canberra is proud to acknowledge its long standing members and a total of 29 members going back as far as the founding of the Canberra Computer Society 51 years ago, have all been Honoured.
At the recent gala dinner, the ACS was able to hand out five framed certificates of Honorary Membership to attendees at the dinner.
This is an initiative of the ACS Canberra Chair Dr Tim Turner who said, “we should be proud as a Branch to be one of the five founding Societies having been set up by world renown Dr Trevor Pearcey who became our first Chairman”.
"The Honorary Memberships are recognition of contribution to our sector and longevity of support as financial members of ACS Canberra, these members have been key figures in the growth of ICT in Canberra and Australia over five decades”."
Members honoured at the dinner included Mr Mike Bowern, Mr Brand Hoff, Mr Peter Outteridge, Mr Michael Heap and Mr John Urbani.
On hand to acknowledge these heros of ICT was the Chief Minister Mr Andrew Barr MLA and Dr Tim Turner Chair of ACS Canberra Branch.
