EdXN September Series: The state of play of Australia’s start-up eco system – Insights from the 2016 Crossroads Report

StartupAUS is in the final stages of writing its 2016 update to the Crossroads Report with supporting partners ACS, Salesforce and Google.

The StartupAUS Crossroads Report is the seminal text on the state of play of Australia's start-up ecosystem, and includes an action plan for making Australia one of the best places in the world to build and grow a tech start-up.

Participants in this EdXN series will receive a confidential preview of this year's insights, drawn from extensive research domestic and internal research incorporating nation-wide consultation with the start-up ecosystem.

About the speaker: Alex McCauley, StartupAUS
Alex McCauley is the CEO of StartupAUS, a not-for-profit organisation with a mission to transform Australia through technology entrepreneurship. StartupAUS works closely with government and the start-up ecosystem to help Australia become one of the best places in the world to build and grow a technology company.

Alex joined StartupAUS in 2015 as Head of Strategy and Advocacy. He was responsible for developing StartupAUS' extensive contribution to the Federal Government's National Innovation and Science Agenda. He also wrote the StartupAUS report on the outcomes of the national Innovation Policy Hack in October 2015.

As CEO of StartupAUS, Alex has led an ambitious agenda in the start-up space, continuing to drive a focus on innovation at all levels of government. He has forged partnerships with key corporate and government partners to spearhead projects that include an analysis of agricultural technology in Australia, a discussion paper on the future of work and the flagship 2016 Crossroads report.

Previously, Alex served as a diplomat in the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. When on posting to Tel Aviv in Israel, Alex led the Australian Embassy's strategy and analysis on regional security issues, as well as entrepreneurship, innovation, policy and cooperation.
