ACS Welcomes Ministerial changes to drive the digital and economic future of NSW

ACS WELCOMES MINISTERIAL CHANGES TO DRIVE THE DIGITAL AND ECONOMIC FUTURE OF NSW

MEDIA STATEMENT

Australia, 2 February 2017: The ACS, the professional association for Australia’s ICT sector, congratulates the Hon. Victor Dominello MP on his new role as Minister for Finance, Services & Property and welcomes the Hon. Matthew Kean MP to the Innovation & Better Regulation portfolio.

ACS NSW Branch Chair Richard Baecher said, “The ACS is pleased to have the opportunity to continue our good working relationship with Minister Dominello. As the first Minister for Innovation & Better Regulation for New South Wales, Victor Dominello launched a series of important initiatives. Given his depth of experience, it is good to see Minister Dominello will retain oversight of the NSW Data Analytics Centre in his new portfolio.

“It is now critically important to continue the momentum of the Innovation & Better Regulation portfolio. The ACS also looks forward to working alongside Minister Kean and stands ready to assist the new Minister in implementing the NSW Innovation Strategy and driving outcomes that enhance innovation and technology-led growth in NSW.

The NSW Innovation Strategy clearly identifies the importance of ensuring NSW has the right mix of talent, with skills in diverse fields such as critical and experimental thinking, creative problem solving and entrepreneurship, alongside STEM skills.

As a long-term advocate for boosting digital skills – within the classroom as much as the workforce – the ACS also congratulates the new NSW Education Minister, the Hon. Rob Stokes MP, and his Assistant Minister for Education, the Hon. Sarah Mitchell MLC, on their appointments. We look forward to working with them on the Digital Technologies curriculum and other key skills initiatives.
