ACS Canberra Social Hike: Easter Sunday - 17 Apr 2022

ACS Canberra Branch Executive Committee (BEC) with ACT Walking for Pleasure (WFP) would like to invite you for a social hike to explore Clos Crossing Forest on Easter Sunday 2022. It will be a 7 to 8km hike through Clos Crossing Forest, a lovely forest behind the suburbs of Coombs and Wright.

It will be a 7 to 8km hike through Clos Crossing Forest, a lovely forest behind the suburbs of Coombs and Wright. <br><br>ACT Walking for Pleasure (WFP) is a Canberra-based volunteer‐run association which organises guided walks for members: https://www.actwfp.org.au/. <br><br><b>Things to Know: </b> <ul><li>Sign-in on the day is also required to acknowledge that you are walking at your own risk. </li><li>Easy to medium hiking grade up to 8km. </li><li>You need to bring your own water, hat, sunscreen and snacks. </li><li>Wear appropriate sturdy footwear as there will be some dirt fire trails. </li><li>There are no toilet facilities at any stage of the walk. </li><li>Bring walking poles if normally used. </li></ul> <b>Where:  </b><br><b>Clos Crossing Forest Carpark:</b> <a href="https://goo.gl/maps/jre1bD53gbnn1nNf8" target="_blank">Carpark</a> at the bottom of Kirkpatrick Street, Coombs, near the North Weston Ponds. <br><b>Exact parking location is:</b> https://goo.gl/maps/jre1bD53gbnn1nNf8<br><b>Carpark coordinates: </b>35.32310° S, 149.05414° E<br>Meet Amy Tang (Canberra BEC) and ACT Walking for Pleasure organisers at the carpark between 9:15am to 9:30am to sign in for a 9:30am start. <br> <br><b>When: </b><br>Event Start: Easter Sunday 17 April 2022, 9:15AM-9:30AM  <br>Event Finish: Easter Sunday 17 April 2022, TBD based on attendees (Allocate approximately 2-3 hours for the walk). <br> <br><b>Event Price: </b><br>Member: Free <br>Member-Concessional: Free <br>Non-Member: Free <br><br><b>IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR ATTENDEES</b><br>*This is not a formal ACS event and ACS members attending this activity do so at their own risk and waive, release and discharge ACS from any or all liabilities or claims made as a result of participation in this activity or event, whether caused by negligence or otherwise.

  • ACS reserves the right to prohibit entry or eject any person from an ACS event based on behaviour deemed inappropriate by ACS staff, its agents and/or others working under its authority.
  • Filming or streaming by attendees is not permitted. If an attendee is found to be doing so they will be asked to leave the event immediately and further action may be taken.
  • Photography and/or filming may take place during this event, by accepting these terms you consent to this. Please let a member of ACS know if you do not want your picture taken.

COVID-19 Event Attendance Compliance

By registering to attend an ACS in person event you are agreeing to the below terms and conditions

  • If an attendee is displaying flu or cold like symptoms in the days leading up to the event and therefore is not able to attend, ACS will refund the registration fee.
  • If an attendee comes to an event and is displaying flu or cold like symptoms they will be asked to leave
  • We ask all ACS members to respect the social distancing guidelines, if an attendee repeatedly disregards these guidelines, they may be asked to leave
  • ACS reserves the right to cancel the event within 24 hours' notice if either the speaker or the event host has advised us that they are exhibiting flu or cold like symptoms
  • All attendees must provide a valid phone number and email address to be contacted on if there is reason to notify about a possible COVID-19 exposure

Personal information collection notice

By registering for this event, you are providing personal information to the Australian Computer Society. In accordance with the ACS Privacy Policy, ACS collects personal information through registrations and attendances at its events for the purposes of:
