A certification by the ACS is your passport to a successful career in ICT. It provides the same recognition within industry afforded to other professional disciplines such as accounting, engineering and law, bringing you the rewards of global job opportunities and better remuneration. Certification also provides official recognition of your competencies to potential employers, rather than relying only on references.
In order to get certified, you need to have your skills, knowledge and experience verified by the ACS. We provide pathways for members in a wide range of circumstances to become certified.
The ACS Professional Standards Scheme provides legal recognition of ICT as a profession for the first time. This is a step forward for the ICT profession as it identifies ICT workers as professionals on the same level as an engineers, solicitors and accountants.
The ACS Professional Standards Scheme has been approved by the Professional Standards Councils as a Cover of Excellence® scheme. These schemes are a part of Federal and State legislation and protect members of recognised occupational associations by limiting liability.
For applicable ACS members, liability can be limited to $1.5 million. ACS Certified Professionals (CPs) who meet the criteria and hold the requisite insurances are entitled to this new protection.
The ACS offers all members an email redirection service. You can set up an alias email address with the suffix @acsmail.net.au, and have emails sent to your alias, forwarded on to up to two personal accounts. It’s a great way for your colleagues and friends to keep in touch with you.
Members who register an ACS Alias email will be protected by anti-virus and anti-spam systems. The acsmail.net.au domain employs the Sender Policy Framework (SPF) to prevent email spoofing.
As an ACS Member, you have agreed to adhere to a code of ethics. This code shows clients and employers your commitment to ethical behaviour and conduct as an ICT professional.
The ACS Consultants Directory lists details of those members who have skills and experience in many ICT areas and are available to offer their services.
