LaunchVic for startups stimulating growth within Vic ICT sector

Thursday, 03 Dec 2015

Last Friday, Philip Dalidakis committed a $60 million startup fund and announced the new body for startups - LaunchVic. The aim of this new body, headed up by Dr Pradeep Philip, will create jobs within Victoria and stretch innovation further than it’s been before.

ACS Victoria Chair, Craig Horne, attended the launch and said '’This is a great initiative to stimulate growth in the ICT sector in Victoria. ACS Victoria welcomes this new funding and we are excited that the Victorian Government is supporting innovation in this state”.

The Minister said “We want Victoria to be the location of choice for startups worldwide, and LaunchVic will make it happen. The recent moves to Victoria from leading tech companies Zendesk, GoPro and Slack show that it’s within our grasp.”
“Ideas are the future. We’ve doubled Victoria’s economic growth in a year, leaving others behind. This is about encouraging young companies and ideas to create jobs and industries that will support our state for decades to come.”

ACS will keep our members up-to-date with further developments.
