ACS Victoria were privileged to attend and present at the Swinburne ICT international student speed networking event this week. The aim of the event was to provide international students with an opportunity to expand their knowledge of the Australian IT industry and get an opportunity to communicate with industry representatives in a professional environment.
Approximately 70 international students heard from Dr Rod Dilnutt, ACS Victoria Board Member, who gave a presentation about the ICT industry and about the benefits of ACS membership in a competitive market place. The students then undertook 3 x 20 minute group networking rotations over the course of one hour, before concluding with 30 minutes of informal networking.
Students were invited to introduce themselves and ask questions of the industry attendees.
We also visited Federation University in Gippsland this week with other local ICT industry leaders to address the opportunities and challenges for students moving into the ICT sector.
