2016 - The Year of Celebration

In 2016 the Australian Computer Society (ACS) will celebrate our 50th year as Australia's association for ICT professionals. Throughout the year a number of initiatives, activities and events will look to recognise and celebrate our past, showcase the present and give inspiration as we look towards the future and the next 50 years.

In preparation for the festivities, the 50th Year Celebrations Committee has been established to coordinate and assist with the planning for these celebrations. Michael Hawkins, ACT Branch Executive Committee representative, past ACT Branch Chair and Congressional representative, has been appointed as Chair of the 50th Year Celebrations Committee.
Appointed by NSW Branch Executive Committee and Branch Fellows Committee, jointly leading the NSW Sub-Committee for the celebrations are Fellows representatives:

  • Philip Bailey
  • Peter Palmer

We are keen to hear from ACS Members and are interested in your ideas on how the ACS could celebrate our achievements and contribution to the ICT landscape in Australia. We are also interested in receiving any material, content, images or stories you may have to share. Please contact Patrick Wilson, NSW Branch Executive Committee Member, and Liz Carroll, NSW Branch Member Services and Events Manager if you have any material you wish to contribute.

Help us recognise the achievements and history of the ACS. Be involved in contributing to the ongoing success of the ACS for our Members and the ICT community.
