This blog is based on the column that appeared in Tuesday's Australian IT on 5 August 2014. Much of the time there will be little difference between my views and those official policy positions ACS take on matters of interest, but difference may exist so in commenting please bear this in mind.
I have always found ICT folks to be an intelligent, creative, innovative bunch of people with a tendency to be self-opinionated and dogged when things aren't going the way they KNOW they should.
In which case, you would expect them to jump at the chance to help shape the future use of ICT and to influence governments, who are amongst the biggest ICT spenders as procurers, employers and legislators. But do they?
