The ACS is pleased to announce the Youth Festival of ICT (YITCON) will be held on 9 and 10 October 2014 at The Forum in Melbourne, VIC. YITCON brings together more than 1,000 senior secondary students, university students, and young professionals interested in ICT careers to discover how they can prosper in the digital future.

The conference motto is “Change Minds, Change Futures, Change Worlds."

  • Change Minds combines the concept of human brain interfaces with the actions and outcomes of change.
  • Change Futures and Change Worlds represent empowerment.

ACS CEO Alan Patterson said, “The youth of today will drive our digital future, and we want to empower them to succeed. As Australia’s professional association and trusted voice for ICT, we will equip young attendees with the latest information to make informed career decisions.”

“The dynamic ICT industry is rapidly growing and changing, and we will help attendees prepare for the digital future and understand the skills required to succeed in ICT,” said Fiona Teakle, Chair of the ACS Young IT Board. The board has been hard at work for several months planning a fun, hands-on, interactive event for our youth.

The board chose Melbourne as this year’s YITCON location for many reasons. The city has a large population of students, educational programs and young professionals focused on ICT careers. Many of Australia’s top businesses base their headquarters and ICT departments in Melbourne, and the city boasts a growing pool of local ICT enterprises and entrepreneurs. The airport and public transportation options are easily accessible and accommodations are relatively affordable, making Melbourne an appealing destination for interstate attendees. The Forum venue has a reputation for hosting many of the city’s best events. Striking, versatile and edgy, The Forum is centrally located in the CBD and provides the perfect setting for a forward-thinking festival.

Stay tuned in the coming weeks for announcements on keynote speakers, program sessions, and special guests. If you would like to partner with us to present YITCON for Australia’s youth, please don’t hesitate to contact us
