New Data Centre in Western Sydney Open for Business (NSW)

Friday, 23 Aug 2013

The NSW Government’s use of information technology has entered a new era with Minister for Finance and Services Andrew Constance today opening a purpose-built data centre in Silverwater. The facility, and another in Unanderra to be opened later this month, will house more than $200 million worth of government-owned ICT equipment, and will see the state’s 130 ageing data centres consolidated into two superior facilities. "This is the first data centre of its kind in NSW to be used by government, and is a significant milestone in our plans to use ICT to streamline service delivery and reduce costs for NSW taxpayers," Mr Constance said. "The NSW Government will be the main tenants of the data centre and have special rights and access to the facility."
