The WA branch of ACS Young IT recently hosted their first event for the financial year; a professional networking event held at the trendiest new office space in the city — Spacecubed. Being a creative "collaborative, co-working workspace", it offered a relaxed and interesting setting for the under 35s to socialise with their peers in the industry after the working week. It was the first event for more than half the attendees, making the event a great success with the reach of Young IT spreading further into the community.
With the newly appointed Chair, George Coldham, at the helm of a 16-strong committee, the future for Young IT events in WA is looking bright. The new team boast a promising combination in their wealth of ideas and their enthusiasm, setting the bar high with exciting plans for the year ahead adding that crucial element needed to make good events great, with the focus on providing exceptional value and personal value to our members. Their next event — "You can Bank on IT" — would be a great place to start for those members who haven't attended before. Held in the new BankWest Plaza and featuring hosts from Bankwest giving an insight into the workings (and importance) of IT professionals in the banking industry, this event on 27 August is not to be missed.
