The Deakin’s Centre for Rural Regional Law and Justice is hosting a video conferenced forum on Cybersafety, Privacy and the Law On Wednesday 19th June from 10.30-noon.
The Centre has several small business people on the panel who can speak from personal experience as well as experts in how to protect your data.
- Dr Anthony Bendall, Deputy Privacy Commissioner of Victoria.
- Troy Braban, Chief Information Security Officer Australia Post.
- Bartek Marnane, Stay Smart on Line Ambassador and General Manager for Moshtix, a leading ticketing outlet.
- Alex Woerndle, Executive Director and cofounder of MyEmpire.com.au. Former Director of Distribute IT, a company wiped out after being hacked.
The forum will be a plain language discussion looking at the risks to businesses and organisations in relation to the storage of data. It will also discuss the laws relating to the need to protect client privacy when storing the data electronically.
This forum is hosted out of Geelong and will be video conferenced, with opportunities for questions to 12 locations across Victoria including Warrnambool, Portland, Ballarat, Horsham, Bendigo, Swan Hill, Shepparton, Craigieburn, Bairnsdale, Rosebud, Dandenong and Morwell.
