The impact can be worse than a natural disaster. <br><br>How can we ensure those who look after our IT systems are able to respond when the worst happens and mitigate that impact?<br><br>We need to look to how we respond to those natural disasters to understand that our cyber security experts are our first responders in the event of a cyber-attack. Philippa Wyrdeman

Philippa Wyrdeman

Pip Wyrdeman is Vice President C4I and Cyber with Elbit Systems of Australia. Pip’s responsibilities cover command and control systems for the Australian Defence Force, in particular the Australian Army’s Battle Management System and training requirements. Pip also heads Elbit’s Cyber systems and training capability.
 
Pip initially came to Elbit to advance her mission to improve the maturity of Australia’s cyber security foundation. Her previous role was as Senior Adviser Cyber Policy in the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet where she worked with industry and academia to implement the Australian Government’s Cyber Security Strategy. Her particular focus was on Growth and Innovation, and developing the Cyber Smart Nation. This is where the mission really began.
 
A biotechnologist and genetic engineer by original training, Pip moved into IP Australia  examining patents in that space before moving into ICT change management and helping organisations with their information, ICT and security policy and architectures. It was from that platform that she moved into Cyber Security policy and into her role today.
 
Pip is a futurist at heart and has a passion for technology and the benefits it can bring to individuals, business and society more broadly.
 
Pip holds a Degree in Applied Science, and Graduate Diploma in Management Science and a Master of Arts in Strategic Studies. Pip is also a Fellow of the Centre for Defence and Strategic Studies.

COVID-19 Event Attendance Compliance

By registering to attend an ACS in person event you are agreeing to the below terms and conditions

  • If an attendee is displaying flu or cold like symptoms in the days leading up to the event and therefore is not able to attend, ACS will refund the registration fee.
  • If an attendee comes to an event and is displaying flu or cold like symptoms they will be asked to leave
  • We ask all ACS members to respect the social distancing guidelines, if an attendee repeatedly disregards these guidelines, they may be asked to leave
  • ACS reserves the right to cancel the event within 24 hours' notice if either the speaker or the event host has advised us that they are exhibiting flu or cold like symptoms
  • All attendees must provide a valid phone number and email address to be contacted on if there is reason to notify about a possible COVID-19 exposure
