Too often we hear from the CFOs and business managers that their ICT spend is too high; asking why is ICT costing so much and where can we cut spending. ICT operations are often viewed as an overhead rather than as a valued partner to the organisation. But this has to change now as ICT moves to the as-a-service model.

As government agencies push their digital agendas, CIOs have the opportunity to change the paradigm of ICT from being an “overhead” to becoming a “valued partner”. Agencies are increasingly looking to their CIOs and ICT teams to drive and lead or enable innovation and efficiency agendas. This requires ICT functions to understand the cost, value, risk and fitness of their services and engage with business around these “value” topics.

IT4IT (The Open Group) and Technology Business Management (TBM Council) are the disciplines that can support CIOs make this paradigm shift. These disciplines provide recognised frameworks and standards that can help ICT:

Better communicate the business value of ICT investments and services and how they align to the organisation’s financial and business goals

Optimise ICT investment and BAU spend through fact-based trade-offs of cost, capacity, fitness-for-purpose and risk

Chart the course for transforming ICT from being just an ‘enabler’ to a ‘valued partner’ of business.

In this session, Mark Johnson and Lalit Guglani will discuss:

Why is it important to increase the maturity of ICT operation so that they are managed “like a business” and so that their role is transformed from being an “enabler” to a “driver” of innovation and digital business

How the ICT business practices and standards can be matured to support the ICT transformation and drive innovation and digital business. Two key industry frameworks, IT4IT and TBM, that are being adopted by leading CIOs globally, will be discussed.

Who should attend: ICT Executives, Managers, Architects, Portfolio Managers, Finance Managers and anyone who interested in this topic.

Event run sheet: Registration from 5:00 pm, Presentation at 5:15 pm, Networking from 6:20 pm to 7:00 pm.

*Please join us for refreshments after the presentation.
