<b>Table Purchase Available (8 guests per table)</b><br>$1120 + GST: ACS Members<br>$1280 + GST: Non Members<br><br><i>*To purchase your table please contact <b>Alexandra Mollo</b> at <a href="mailto:alexandra.mollo@acs.org.au" target="_blank"><font color="#0066cc">alexandra.mollo@acs.org.au</font></a> with your guests&#39; full name, email address, employer and dietary requirement (if any).</i><br><span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: medium;">-------------------------------------------------------------------<br><b>BACKGROUND</b><br><br>Each year, the Australian Computer Society (ACS) presents leading edge orations by world class speakers.  This year our guest speaker is Professor <b>Matthew Bellgard, Director, Centre for Comparative Genomics, Murdoch University</b>.  Professor Bellgard’s Oration title is <b>“Embracing Digital Disruption to Advance Clinical Research”.</b></span></span><br> <br><span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><b>Healthcare</b>, and clinical research specifically, is a complex human endeavour.  It is an information-based industry where value and success depends upon focussed, well designed connectivity of systems achieved through stakeholder collaboration.  Quality data, information and knowledge must be analysed and utilised in an effective, efficient and timely manner to affect important clinical decisions and communicate health prevention strategies.</span></span><br> <br><span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,sans-serif;"><span style="color: black;"><span style="font-size: medium;">The Oration is named after Dennis Moore, the father-figure of computing in Western Australia.  Professor Moore was first chairman of the WA Computer Society, the Director of the very first computing centre in WA, an executive director of Government Computing, and then appointed foundation Head of School of Computing at Curtin University of Technology in 1987.</span></span></span><br> <br><span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,sans-serif;"><span style="color: black;"><span style="font-size: medium;">In addition, the winner of the prestigious <b>1962 Prize</b>, sponsored by Dennis Moore, will be announced.</span></span></span><br> <br><b><span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: medium;">You are invited to join us at this distinguished event.</span></span></b><br>  <div><img alt="2017 Oration Sponsors Logos" src="https://acsau--c.ap1.content.force.com/servlet/servlet.ImageServer?id=0159000000EqNI3&amp;oid=00D90000000o5NE&amp;lastMod=1505711688000"></img></div>

Matthew Bellgard

Professor Matthew Bellgard is a computer scientist by background with a PhD from the University of Western Australia in the field of artificial intelligence. Professor Bellgard is the inaugural Director of the Centre for Comparative Genomics (CCG) based at Murdoch University. The CCG undertakes research in the biomedical, biological and agricultural sciences on themes as diverse as human health, personalised medicine, food security, environmental management, animal and plant genomics and pathogens and viruses. The key to the CCG’s ability to operate at the boundaries between these diverse fields lies in its unique mix of capabilities and expertise embracing technological innovation in the enabling disciplines of bioinformatics, genomics, molecular therapies, software engineering, and super and cloud computing. Professor Bellgard has a particular interest in rare diseases and is co-leader of the Australian consortium in the FP7 €12 million RD Connect program that focuses on providing an integrated platform connecting registries, biobanks and clinical bioinformatics. He is also Project Director of the design and deployment of core ICT systems in the health sector.

  • ACS reserves the right to change the program at any time. Every effort will be made to ensure a program of equivalent standard and members are updated with changes.

  • ACS reserves the right to prohibit entry or eject any person from an ACS event based on behaviour deemed inappropriate by ACS staff, its agents and/or others working under its authority.
  • Filming or streaming by attendees is not permitted. If an attendee is found to be doing so they will be asked to leave the event immediately and further action may be taken.
  • Photography and/or filming may take place during this event, by accepting these terms you consent to this. Please let a member of ACS know if you do not want your picture taken.

COVID-19 Event Attendance Compliance

By registering to attend an ACS in person event you are agreeing to the below terms and conditions

  • If an attendee is displaying flu or cold like symptoms in the days leading up to the event and therefore is not able to attend, ACS will refund the registration fee.
  • If an attendee comes to an event and is displaying flu or cold like symptoms they will be asked to leave
  • We ask all ACS members to respect the social distancing guidelines, if an attendee repeatedly disregards these guidelines, they may be asked to leave
  • ACS reserves the right to cancel the event within 24 hours' notice if either the speaker or the event host has advised us that they are exhibiting flu or cold like symptoms
  • All attendees must provide a valid phone number and email address to be contacted on if there is reason to notify about a possible COVID-19 exposure
