Please join us for this in person ICT event in Alice Springs! This is a great opportunity for the local ICT community to come together, network and access some face to face professional development.<br><br><img alt="User-added image" src="https://id.acs.org.au/servlet/servlet.ImageServer?id=0150o00000HuInh&amp;oid=00D90000000o5NE&amp;lastMod=1651032848000"></img><br><br>Our first presentation will be from Dylan Bennett, who is the founder of the studio behind the Finke Desert Race Mobile Game and has seen first hand the transformative power of video games and is passionate about using video games to tell local stories for a global audience. Video games are the largest creative industry in the world, surpassing both movies and music combined. In 2021, video games were the second choice of digital entertainment for Australian households, just behind Netflix. In a world that does not watch TV, listen to the radio or read the newspaper - how can we tell our stories?<br><br>Following this, Damien Charles, ACS NT Branch Chair, will take us through how the ICT sector has performed during Covid, delve into how the current state of the ICT sector in the NT, and discuss some of the benefits of ACS membership. <br><br>The presentations will be followed by refreshments and networking.

Dylan Bennett

Darwin based Dylan Bennett is an experienced facilitator, speaker and entrepreneurial educator, with over a decade of global experience in education and educational management. Determined to be a Jack-of-all-trades, master of some, Dylan’s eclectic experiences intertwine theater, music and sports with business founder, high school math teacher, applied behaviour analyst and video game educator. Currently, Dylan works closely with RMIT Activator as the senior education product advisor and is also the founder of Larrikin Interactive which supports budding game designers in the NT.

Damien Charles

Damien Charles is the Regional Manager for NEC Australia in the Northern Territory, with over 25 years of experience delivering ICT services. Having started in the Industry on the NTG’s Service Desk in the mid 90’s, Damien has progressed his career through all levels and multiple roles, and is now responsible for delivering service to NTG across a number of managed services contracts. NEC is the largest non-government ICT employer in the Northern Territory and under Damien’s local leadership has been named as the NT’s Employer of the Year for 2018 and 2019.

As a long term Territorian with a keen interest in helping others to achieve success in the ICT industry, and also to develop the industry in the North of Australia, he has invested considerable time and effort in supporting the local university and students and is an active member of a number of the local associations and ICT Committee’s. He is a passionate advocate for the ACS and its role in providing guidance and support, and is the ACS NT Branch Chair.

COVID-19 Event Attendance Compliance

By registering to attend an ACS in person event you are agreeing to the below terms and conditions

  • If an attendee is displaying flu or cold like symptoms in the days leading up to the event and therefore is not able to attend, ACS will refund the registration fee.
  • If an attendee comes to an event and is displaying flu or cold like symptoms they will be asked to leave
  • We ask all ACS members to respect the social distancing guidelines, if an attendee repeatedly disregards these guidelines, they may be asked to leave
  • ACS reserves the right to cancel the event within 24 hours' notice if either the speaker or the event host has advised us that they are exhibiting flu or cold like symptoms
  • All attendees must provide a valid phone number and email address to be contacted on if there is reason to notify about a possible COVID-19 exposure
