<p><b><img alt="User-added image" src="https://acsau.file.force.com/servlet/rtaImage?eid=7010o000001JOuJ&feoid=00N9000000EVCh7&refid=0EM0o000001MNFK" style="height: 333px; width: 500px;"></img><br><br>World Autism Awareness Day on 2 April is a globally recognised opportunity to raise awareness about people living with autism. </b><br><br>ACS NSW in conjunction with DXC Technology, will hold a “lunch and learn” event at the Innovation and Technology Hub in Barangaroo on 2 April to showcase some of the initiatives, programs and opportunities in ICT for people living with autism. Many people with autism have an eye for detecting patterns in data and an ability to sustain superior levels of concentration, making them uniquely qualified to make exceptional contributions to tech and data teams<br><br><b>Hosted by Michael Fieldhouse, Social Impact Practice Leader, DXC Technology</b></p> <p>The event will be hosted by Michael Fieldhouse, creator of DXC’s Dandelion Programme – an initiative to help people on the spectrum take on jobs in cyber security, data analytics and software testing. <span style="font-family: arial,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 10.0pt;">The DXC Dandelion Programme today employs over 80 people in Australia and provides leading research on autism in the workplace. Over 290 organisations across 77 countries have now shown an interest in the DXC Dandelion Programme.</span></span><br><br><b>Panelist: Mike Tozer, CEO and founder of Xceptional</b></p> <p>Mike Tozer will explain how using the Xceptional app to mitigate anxiety and testing for functional skills empowers autistic employees to flourish and helps employers embrace the benefits of neurodiversity. Xceptional was recently awarded one million dollars as winners of the Google Impact Challenge<br><br><b>Panelist: Susannah Pondekas, Senior Manager, Strategic Initiatives at CBA</b></p> <p>In 2017-2018, Susannah led a small team at CBA to deliver a neurodiversity internship. The program was awarded Aspect Australia’s 2018 <i>Above and Beyond</i> award and was recognised for delivering a supportive and accommodating recruitment and on boarding experience for people on the Autism spectrum joining as paid interns. Susannah will share her experience of setting up and running the <i>Autism at Work</i> intern pilot, share some insights and learnings from the process end to end, including recruitment, onboarding and managing the interns within the organisation.</p> <p><img alt="DXC" src="https://acsau.file.force.com/servlet/rtaImage?eid=7010o000001JOuJ&feoid=00N9000000EVCh7&refid=0EM0o000001pnxy" style="height: 85px; width: 500px;"></img></p> <p><b>Getting here</b><br>If arriving by train from Wynyard, take exit 4 towards Barangaroo from the west end of the station.<br><br>Make your way through the tunnel and follow the signs to Barangaroo.<br><br>ACS is located in Tower One which is the <b>red </b>building.<br><br><b>Accessing Level 27</b><br>An ACS staff member will be in the lobby of the Tower at 12:00pm - 12:20pm to facilitate access to level 27.
