Aaron joined Startup Catalyst in 2016 after it was founded  by Shark Tank investor, Steve Baxter, to expose Australia&#39;s technical talent to the tsunami of innovation that is happening overseas. Aaron Birkby

Aaron is a tech entrepreneur, having successfully built and exited several startups since the age of sixteen. He is the CEO of Startup Catalyst, leading startup and investor missions to Silicon Valley, Europe, Israel and Asia. He is the co-founder of Peak Persona, delivering programs to help founders achieve their peak mental performance. Aaron also serves on the Board of StartupAUS. In 2016 Aaron was awarded the national Benson Award for Entrepreneurship, and also the Pearcey Award as entrepreneur of the year for Queensland, prior to which he was also the Entrepreneur In Residence for the River City Labs Accelerator.

Mark Xavier

Mark was first introduced to unmanned aircraft technology in 1990 while serving in the ADF. He is a founding Director of V-TOL Aerospace Pty Ltd (V-TOL www.v-tol.com) incorporated in 2005 and the Australian Unmanned Systems Academy Pty Ltd (AUSA www.ausacademy.org) incorporated in 2009. 

V-TOL & AUSA are Australian corporations based in Queensland and were established to develop and supply Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) technology & capabilities, products and services into the emerging civilian RPAS commercial sector. V-TOL has achieved several world firsts while working with the World Bank & Hitachi Japan on its International projects.

V-TOL & AUSA count global NGOs, ASX 200 companies, Australian Local, State and Federal Government agencies on its list of customers. AUSA has also trained 300+ students, including foreign national airspace (NAS) regulator personnel, from seven (7) different nations to the CASA approved remote pilot license (RePL) standard. It is a CASA approved training organisation and an RTO teaching Certificate level courses. 

Both organizations work closely with global partners, leading Australian researchers, CASA, government and commercial customers with the aim of making this technology an economic value-adding multiplier across all ‘core’ Australian and global industries.

Mark served three (3) years as an industry co-chair on the CASA UASSC Air Operations Working Group 2 that assisted industry in the initial development of the RPAS Manual of Standards (MoS).

By registering to attend an ACS in person event you are agreeing to the below terms and conditions

  • If an attendee is displaying flu or cold like symptoms in the days leading up to the event and therefore is not able to attend, ACS will refund the registration fee.
  • If an attendee comes to an event and is displaying flu or cold like symptoms they will be asked to leave
  • We ask all ACS members to respect the social distancing guidelines, if an attendee repeatedly disregards these guidelines, they may be asked to leave
  • ACS reserves the right to cancel the event within 24 hours' notice if either the speaker or the event host has advised us that they are exhibiting flu or cold like symptoms
  • All attendees must provide a valid phone number and email address to be contacted on if there is reason to notify about a possible COVID-19 exposure
