Welcome to the first SYP SIG (Student and Young Professionals Special Interest Group) column.
About SYP
Now in its seventh year, the group hosts monthly seminars that rotate around the themes of career development, professional development and technical issues/trends. In the not-too-distant future we are also planning to provide a resourceful web site, a program that will offer an opportunity for students to gain practical IT experience and monthly newsletters. In order to benefit its members, SYP has developed a number of roles and objectives.

Promote professional development to enhance skills and knowledge of its members.
Provide members with insights to current issues and events in IT industry.
Provide members with opportunities to expand their network of contacts.
Assist in the transition from tertiary institutions to the work environment.
