4. Rostrum Club 10 Monthly Meeting - Thursday 1st May
Good communication is highly valued in the workplace and the community.
Unfortunately, time, resources and training are not always available to develop,
hone and practise this valuable skill. The opportunities available within

9. Congratulations to ACS Professional Partnership Program (PPP) Participants - SDM
SDM Wins State Award for Autism Software - PocketPhrase
The Australian
Information Industry Association (AIIA) SA Chapter today announced the South
Australian winners for the iAwards. Strategic Data Management (SDM) was the
state winner for its PocketPhrase* application and is now a finalist in the
national iAwards being held 28 May 2008.
PocketPhrase
General Manager, Mike Pearson today accepted this award, presented to the most
innovative ICT solutions in the category of education and training.
“We are so
pleased that PocketPhrase has received this award. It truly recognises
PocketPhrase’s unique capability as a software application for people with
autism which is designed to develop, administer, and support the education and
social integration of individuals,” says Mr Pearson.
The software is
designed assist people with autism in schools, preschool, and child care
centres, colleges, universities, teaching and learning institutions, and in the
workplace.
SA State Manger
for SDM and parent company DWS, Geoffrey Rohrsheim, believes it is not only a
significant win for the business, but also for South Australia. “This is testament to the
fact that South Australian businesses are going national and global players in
the ICT industry.
“Part of our
strategy is to continue to build our software development centre here in Adelaide to serve the
national market.”
National winners
will be invited to represent Australia
at the Asia-Pacific ICT Awards (APICTA) in Indonesia later this year, where
they will compete with the best our region has to offer.
