Topic: 'Alternate Dispute Resolution in ICT'
The very nature of the Information Communication Technology industry predisposes it to contractual disputes. Limitations on software validation, problems in writing exact specifications, differing assumptions of the parties involved – all conspire to produce disputes in almost 50% of ITC contracts.

5.  Computer Professional Education Program – Enrolments close 16 March

 

Looking for practical, work-based postgraduate education?  Then the CPE Program will be just what you want.  It’s postgraduate IT professional education for motivated IT practitioners.  With mentored and collaborative learning, the CPE Program challenges your thinking and gives you a framework and the skills to address issues within your organisation. 

 

The CPE Program consists of four subjects:  Three core -   Business, Legal and Ethical Issues; New Technology Alignment; Business, Strategy and IT and one elective - Project Management; IT Service Management will run in study period 1 whilst Adaptive Business Intelligence will commence in study period 2.

 

Three 13 week study periods per year:  March – June; July – October and November – February.  Fees  $675 per subject (or $2700 for the full program) for ACS Members.  Time commitment is 8-10 hours per week.  Study period 1 runs from 23 March – 21 June.   So if you are after a challenging, relevant and current postgraduate education program which is delivered totally online, enroll in the Computer Professional Education Program now!

6. Seeking ICT Professionals in Data Management and Project Management 

ACSEducation, the division of the ACS responsible for professional development, is seeking volunteers to assist with assessment of candidates sitting the ACS Diploma of Information Technology examinations (http://www.acs.org.au/dit/). 

Volunteers must be ACS Members with current PCP status. 

The commitment is not great yet the rewards include: 
  •  up to 25 hours recognised professional development activity (claimable as PCP hours).
  •  an honorarium to cover costs.
  •  a richer and more interesting CV.
  •  the satisfaction of contributing to the ICT profession and the ACS.

7. SQL DBA/Developer Resource – Olicc Technologies

Olicc Technologies are seeking a junior with 1-2 years experience to be permanent (with 3 month probation) or contract (3 month initial) data base developer. A more experienced individual would be considered.

9. System Administrators'  Guild of Australia (SAGE -AU) Conference 2008

SAGE-AU is pleased to announce the sixteenth annual Australian System Administrators' conference (SAGE-AU'2008) will be held at the Holiday Inn Adelaide (65 Hindley Street), Adelaide from 11th - 15th August 2008.

SAGE-AU was formed to advance the profession of System Administration by raising awareness of the need for System Administrators, and educating System Administrators in technical as well as professional issues.  Our yearly conference provides a forum for System Administrators of all platforms and levels of experience to gather together and share their experiences.  Further it provides an excellent opportunity to meet and network with acknowledged experts in the field.
